"I liked this place but it was hard to find workers to help, they had good selection of guitars, drums, pianos and, speakers. I enjoyed this store and I would recommend this store to any musicians in the area."

"This store totally screwed me over. I bought a tascam multitrack recorder. The record button didn't work, broken on arrival , they wouldn't take a return on it.. Because a two day window had passed.. I returned it to them anyway.. Later they called me up and offered me half of what I paid for the item as a refund... They have the rudest customer service of any music store I have ever deal with in the last 20 years... and I've dealt with a lot of different music shops over the years.. I would say avoid this store"

"Great service with a relaxed atmosphere. Will go back again and so close to home. Boutique size but lots to offer."
I'm looking for a small beater kit and this just popped up on Facebook. Is this older Gretsch Catalina Club any different than the current iteration? I'm not familiar with the Gretsch timeline, but this version appears to be between the Catalina Elite and the current Club, so 2010's? He's asking...
I once had a Gretsch set in the Carpathian Elm Anniversary finish. It was with chrome hardware and the at the time standard square Gretsch badge. Sizes were 8x10 10x12 11x13 16x16 16x22 8x14. I believe they were all maple 5 ply +1 veneer shells. I guess they had some of the stuff left over from the Centennial offering, boy did those sound great ...
The Gretsch is nice, but it sounds like the DW ticks a lot more of the boxes you are looking for. If you sell the snare you can buy the 10" rack tom with the money.
Brooklyn are a current new Gretsch flavor sort of a Ludwig Classic maple done in Gretsch style That definitely lines up with what I've learned. The Brooklyns are cool but sometimes they sound really boxey to me and just kind of like mid-range bleh. Other recordings sound great so maybe it comes down to tuning?
Compared to Rogers and Gretsch, the drums were lighter in weight and had less hardware mass on them. They had a nice, pretty, open sound, but they didn't have the balls and attack that Rogers and Gretsch had, IMO.
Let me start by saying this is a tongue-in-cheek post. It is a story of family dynamics, multi-generational musicians, personal biases and how grandchildren are our revenge upon our children. I've played drums since jr. high school. As you can see my my sig line, I have a collection of...
I ordered a new Broadkaster kit a while back, and now I'm on the hunt for a snare drum to pair with them. I have no experience with a gretsch snare, and currently my snare arsenal is almost strictly Ludwig. Supraphonic, black beauty and a legacy Mahogany, all 6.5x14. Plus a tama slp walnut...
Gretsch, Ludwig, Slingerland and Rogers could have officially changed over to glitters, but perhaps had old sparkle wrap left over. Not wanting to waste it, they used it until the old stuff was gone. You do see sets containing both sparkle and glitter wraps, as well as different badges. I've seen mid-'60s Ludwig hardware stamped WFL.
I wanted to provide a progress update on the Gretsch Serial Number Dating Guide and make one more push for information from owners of vintage Gretsch drums. Back in 2006, member gsw started a thread on DFO in which he kept a log of serial numbers for Gretsch drums. I joined in the effort later...
