LAPD vs LASD - Police Forums & Law Enforcement Forums
LASD will probably process you faster, you can make a very good salary- my compton buddy is a FTO making $8,000/mo,and a SGt I know cleared $160K last yr with very little OT- but for promotions and opportunities,I'd say LAPD. you deal with a diverse community and its not all hell and high water, compared to being tossed to the proverbial wolves ...

LAPD vs. LASD: Benefits & Retirement - Officer.com
With LASD, I didn't see any info about retirement on their website but found a blurb on the ALADS website which referenced trying to petition the Board of Supervisors to grant LASD 3@50 retirement. How is LASD's retirement now, what are the chances of LASD getting 3@50? Also, how are the benefits with each agency?

LAPD vs LASD Reserves? 07-17-2017, 10:03 PM Hey Guys, I'm currently in the process with LAPD for the Reserve Officer Program, but I am also considering taking a look at LASD Reserves. Besides the fact that LASD has it's own Reserve Bureau that conducts it's own backgrounds, I haven't been able to find much about the differences between the two.

I was recently offered a Job with LAPD, but turned down the offer with hopes of working for LASD who has a ton of assignments that interest me more. My BI said I should be looking at a June

Work shifts in LASD - Police Forums & Law Enforcement Forums
Mr Torres, I would suggest you quit worrying about work schedules in the LASD or any law enforcement agency, before getting hired. Our requirements clearly state "being able to work anywhere in the county, any shift, weekends and holidays".

I have been in the LASD process for over 2 years now and have had my BI assigned for about 7 months now. I have had my Live Scan done for about 7 months and have taken 3 poly exams. I first took a poly 1 month after my BI initial interview, was notified 2 months later that I needed to re-take the poly, took it a 2nd time and 2 months later was told it came back un-readable again and was asked ...

FOR LASD: Ride-A-Long - Go to the nearest LASD Station and ask for Ride-A-Long paperwork. You pick three dates and they mail you something real soon regarding what day and time you're going on a ride-a-long. Jail Tour - When you get assigned a BI, they give you paperwork that has all the jail facilities numbers and days they do tours.

L.A.S.D Hiring Process... - Police Forums & Law Enforcement Forums ...
Like FJDave said, read through the thread and the other LASD DST Status one in the Cali forum. But as for turning in your background packet, you'll head down to Monterey Park at your assigned time, fill out a crime/conduct history type questionnaire, then you will turn-in your background packet.
