The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) requested a compassionate release on Oct. 1 for 86-year-old Ramiro Ruiz of Madera County. Ruiz was sentenced 28 years ago. He is serving a life sentence for repeatedly raping, sodomizing, drugging and chaining up his children. According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) a correctional officer by the name of Shawn Wilder barricaded himself in a building on the north side of the prison. Staff were evacuated to a safe area as a crisis response team established communication with him. Wilder was convinced to discard his weapon and surrender just after 6:30 Saturday morning. He was taken into custody at the kern county jail. The incident is still under investigation. #wasco #prison #cdcr
